November 2016 Publisher's Note

Maine has approximately 130,000 veterans.

In other words, roughly 1 out of every 10 people in our state is a veteran. So it is appropriate for MAINE SENIORS Magazine to have two stories this month; Veterans: Honor Flight Maine (page 45) and Special: It Takes a Village (page 51), a story about Troop Greeters who have put Maine on the map for U.S. troops from all over the world who have flown through the Bangor airport.

This Veterans Issue is a salute to all of our veterans and their families for their efforts and sacrifices. They have helped to keep us all safe and free in these great United Sates of America.

I close this publisher’s note with a couple verses from the song by Lee Greenwood, God Bess the USA.

“And I'm proud to be an American

Where at least I know I'm free

And I won't forget the men who died

Who gave that right to me

And I gladly stand up

Next to you and defend her still today

Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land

God bless the USA!"
